Are you someone who thinks in their first language, translates into English, and then speaks?
Tiring isn’t it?
Just as important it makes your words sound like a robot.
Listeners find it much harder to be connected with you.
You are simply not as effective in English as you could be.
A step-by-step solution you can practice right away:
ONE: If possible, practice with a slow English-language conversation with a good friend. But you can do this with anyone.
TWO: Put all your attention on your conversation partner. All of it!
THREE: Focus on the heart connection between you
FOUR: Give yourself the biggest fullest permission to speak. Choose to trust yourself!
FIVE: Carefully notice your listener’s micro-reactions on their face after you speak. Do they appear confused?
SIX: If your listener appears confused, then remember what you said, and try to correct your words
SEVEN: Keep your attention on the other person the whole time
EIGHT: Keep going!
NINE: Pat yourself on the back for your good work
TEN: Repeat! <smile>
